Edge Grip feature provides more flexibility when sharpening
The Edge Grip is designed with a unique feature called “edge grip”. What does it mean? Well, the bottom of the sharpener has been designed to allow the sharpener to rest on the edge of the counter or table. Why is this useful? Sometimes when you sharpen a large chef’s knife with a smaller sharpener, you can slide the tip of the knife across the counter. This can damage the knife or make the counter worse. Thus, sharpening on the edge with the edge handle allows the knife to pass through the slots from heel to toe. Of course, you can always use Edge Grip on top of the surface, but isn’t it nice to have flexibility when sharpening if you need it? The bottom is made of non-slip material which allows for safe and sturdy sharpening.

JUST BE CAREFUL WHILE SHARPENING
First of all, the product is sturdy and good quality… i’m not a Gordon Ramsay … more like a lost elephant in the kitchen. Didnt feel like spending $40 on knives so I bought this thing – huge difference! But be careful, i almost put a hole in my counter … there are also no directions! Why arent you guys providing directions on how to sharpen? I dont know if i’m supposed to angle the knife or put it dead center in that “V” I also dont know which slot to use first the fine or the other one? For that I’ve docked a few stars. You need to start providing people with directions!

Great in the Beginning…
I bought this sharpener because the price was low and it had so many reviews and high ratings. The first few sharpenings were great. My older knives were sharper than they have ever been. The problem is that a month in, I noticed that my knives never got that much sharper after using this product. The sharpeners wore out and thus its capability went down as well. Was great while it lasted.

Affordable and effective!
Sharpens well! I have been missing out on the joys of sharp knives for years! After using this, my knives are sharp as I assume they should be because they cut wonderfully and easily! I admit I didn’t know much about knives but I have learned that this only works for smooth edge knives. Do not use this for serrated knives as there is apparently a different method to sharpening those. For smooth edge knives, this sharpener is a very effective and cheap method! Highly recommended.

potentially dangerous
The price is good, it feels durable and it sharpened my knife well. My only issue is that there is a good chance to cut the hand used to hold the sharpener down if you don’t pay attention. The sharpener is very short and your hand is close to where you slide the knife. There is also no guard to keep the knife from slipping toward your unprotected hand.
